This is a novel about three women, each with very different lives but who are loosely connected to one another.
There’s Louise who lost weight and gained new friends and a shopping habit, with debts that are overwhelmingly large. She has her dream life but its not quite how she imagined it would be and things seem to get out of control.
Dara is a career woman with a new husband, her life seems perfect but her one true love got away and she feels like she has settled for second best. When her ex comes back onto the scene after many years she is confused and feels ready to throw it all away and resume where they left off.
Lastly there is Rosie, an older widow with two grown children. All she wants is for them to be happy but while she is busy trying to give them what they want, she loses herself and her own life suffers significantly.
I know I have said it before, but I love Melissa Hill’s style of writing and Wishful Thinking is an addictive read. The characters are all so different, but each evolves throughout the book and I found it hard to put down because I couldn’t wait to hear what would happen next.
Life doesn’t always go as planned, and the characters in the book each have a lot of learning to do throughout.
Wishful Thinking is a number one bestseller and is one of my current favourite girly reads. The book lived up to my expectations (I previously read The Last to Know by Melissa Hill which I enjoyed) and it made me think about the story and characters long after I had finished reading.
