Valentines Day Gift Don'ts!
Not everyone acknowledges Valentines Day, but if you are going to give your lover something make sure it is appropriate!
Valentines Day doesn’t have to be commercialised and revolve around flowers, cards and chocolates. However, it is day full of romance and love so any gifts and special activities should reflect that.
Whilst different people have different ideas of the perfect romantic gift and gesture, there are things that most lovers would not appreciate as a valentines gift. Here are just a few…
Sending a card or gift with the wrong name on it!
Exercise equipment –
No matter how well intentioned, it doesn’t send a romantic message of “you are perfect as you are”
Household appliances –
Yes, they are practical and maybe your lover needs them, but they have absolutely nothing romantic about them! Save them for the 15th February and surprise your lover then!
Books about being a good lover or how to improve your sex life may make your lover feel somehow inadequate so they probably aren’t a romantic gift idea.
Giving flowers to someone who is highly allergic to them – you should know your partner well enough to avoid gifts that will make them ill!
If your Valentine is dieting, chocolates are not the best gift. Try a beautiful fruit hamper or something inedible instead.
Anything that is an obvious reminder of an ex partner, no matter how romantic it may otherwise be.
Cute ties and underwear for men. Wouldn’t it be better to give him something he will wear and be reminded of you for the whole year?
Clothes in red or pink to match the day are fine only if your lover can wear those colours.
Unattractive underwear that makes anyone think of their Grandparents!
Clothes gifts that are too big! If you aren’t sure of a size, err on the smaller size as that is the more flattering error.
Nothing!
This is the worst gift of all! Show you love and respect your Valentine by making some effort on the day. Don’t leave your partner with nothing to say the next day when asked “what did you get for Valentine’s Day?” At the least, make a card that expresses your love and care.
