Turning ‘ow’ into ‘wow’

Laser hair removal is fast becoming the topic of conversation throughout new Zealand and now is the perfect time of the year to start treatments.

This fast, safe, long lasting treatment is suitable for all areas of the body, most commonly face, back, chest, underarms, bikini, arms and legs.

Treatments are spaced at six weekly intervals and the duration of the treatments can be anywhere from 5 minutes for an upperlip through to 1 hour for a full back.

Laser targets the melanin (colour) in the hair. The ideal candidate for laser hair removal is those with dark hair and fair skin, however, with the Coolglide laser we can now treat all skin types safely and effectively. Unfortunately there is no laser that can treat light hairs.

The most important considerations when choosing a clinic is the type of system which is used, the experience of the technician and ensure you have a test patch. This will give you a general idea of what to expect when having laser treatments, and will allow the technician to allocate appropriate settings specific to your hair colour, skin type and your medical background.

There are many different hair removal machines now coming onto the market – and like most things all machines are not created equal.
The lower power beauty therapy machines can sometimes give good results, however, because the settings are so general often this results in unsightly side effects and therefore is not as effective as the stronger medical grade machines.
