B&L: What does Bim Kenesis mean?

Bree: Bim Kenesis is a play on my own name, a nick name of sorts. The sound of its sums up the label, quirky, fun and original.

B&L: How would you describe fashion in Perth?

Bree: Perth can be quite laidback especially during summer, but when the time comes everyone tends to be quite creative. I think people are less trend orientated, but stylish and wear what they like and what suits them.

B&L: How would you describe your range?

Bree: The label features must-have pieces that are bold but sweet, with a unique, signature aesthetic. Bim Kenesis is playful and inventive and each garment is edgy and fashion forward, but wearable.

B&L: What was the first thing you ever designed?

Bree: Tea towels with buttons

B&L: Have you always been interested in fashion?

Bree: I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t so, yes always. I did consider becoming a forensic scientist for several weeks, but then I hated those lab coats.

B&L: Where do you get your inspiration?

Bree: All sorts of art, movies, design periods, books. At the moment I am being inspired by: art deco movement, old gangster movies, The Fratellis, The Klaxons, textile designer Celia Birtwell, my dogs teeth, my new niece.

B&L: What makes your brand unique?

Bree: The story and inspiration behind every collection. The thought behind each piece. The blindingly bright Bim Kenesis magenta labels. Interesting cuts, shapes and silhouettes.

B&L: What are you wearing this season?

Bree: Tunic dresses, playsuits/shorts, tulip skirts, cami tops and headbands, bright geometric prints and charm necklaces.
